St. Marys Lighthouse

St. Mary’s Lighthouse-

Standing proud at the western edge of Whitley bay, St. Mary’s Lighthouse stands. Built in 1897, the infamous lighthouse is 126ft tall, and was originally designed as a warning to mariners. Although the chapel was dedicated to St. Helen, the light still represents a reminder of St. Mary.

Now the lighthouse is still visitable and even includes a small museum and the opportunity to climb up the lighthouse.
